Ironbark Performing Arts Centre Opening
On the 24th August we officially opened the Iron Bark Performing Arts Centre.
The name for the centre comes from the Ironbark trees that populate the front of the school with their black bark, olive/blue green leaves and red flowers. They were also an inspiration to the interior colour scheme of the centre.
Kellie Hunter, our Aboriginal project worker opened the ceremonies with a welcome to country and outlined the history of the Wurunderjeri people and their connection to the land.
Ros Spence, member for Yuroke gave a short speech and highlighted the importance of the centre to our students, giving them a state of the art space in which to develop their performing arts skills and also as a magnificent facility that can be utilised by the wider Craigieburn community.
The grand opening showcased the talents of our students with performances in dance, drama, instrumental music, glee singing and band. I encourage all students, parents and staff regardless of whether or not they have a child performing to make time to attend our next performance in November so they can experience the wonderful talents of our students.
