student attitudes to school survey results

Craigieburn Secondary College values student voice as a means to improving student engagement, wellbeing and quality instruction and have conducted a survey to find out what your child thinks of our school. The Attitudes to School Survey is an annual student survey offered by the Department of Education and Training to assist schools in gaining an understanding of students' perceptions and experience of school. Our school will use the survey results to plan programs and activties to improve your child's schooling experience. Click Here For Survey Results To Date

student voice & AGENCY - wHAT THIS MEANS TO OUR STUDENTS AND THE COLLEGE

MARYAM SHAMOON:

"Student voice is not only about being given the opportunity to give new ideas and share opinions, it's about having the power to influence change within the school and becoming responsible for our own education. Having the chance to collaborate with teachers about how and what we learn will lead to improvement in educational outcomes. In addition, we will be able to form positive relationship with our peers, teachers and the broader community. The more we have a choice and control over the way we study, the more our motivation and engagement will rise. Initially, this will increase participation in class and potentially decrease behavioural problems."

JACKSON NOUANPHANTHAKOUN:

"In my opinion, student voice and agency are a very important part of the student life as it allows all students to have a say in a wide range of things at the College and in the community. However, it is important that all students are able to share their opinions and ideas in a respectful way. It is important that students exercise their voice in an acceptable manner."

CHLOE CARUANA:

"Student Voice and Agency allows the students of the College to have opportunities to be involved with the development of, and changes to, their learning enviornment. Voice and agency assists in creating a collaborative environment with open communication to ensure students feel safe, welcome and encouraged to learn. Craigieburn Secondary College helps build connections between students and teachers to ensure the College learning environment is working efficiently and effectively."
